Pickleball Camp to Fight Alzheimer's - A mini -camp for 2.5-3.0 and 3.0+
Peak to Peak Pickleball club is sponsoring and hosting a mini-camp to benefit The Alzheimer’s Association to support research, care-giver support and advocacy. 100% of the camp fees and other donations will go to ALZ.org Registration is $50 through the club website. If you can not attend but want to support this cause, you can make a donation. Please make your donation through our Donation Page, and select "Alzheimer's Association Fund." We will have a cash/check donation bucket at the event for anyone who wants to donate at the courts.
The mini-camp is two clinics put together. The first clinic will be “The First Three Shots” and will teach and drill the key elements of success in the first three shots of a point in order to set up for winners in subsequent shots. Participants will be grouped by rating so that opponents in drills are evenly matched. Instructions for each will stretch their skills and understanding.
The second clinic will be "Dinks and Volleys" and will teach an effective short game including how and when to hit offensively and defensively. Each group will grow their knowledge, and drill to build skills around the NVZ to win more points.
We will take appropriate breaks during the clinics and also have a break between clinics for socializing, talking about the ALZ cause, and drawing for door prizes. Overall time for the camp will be about three hours. If you have it, wear purple to support the cause and to enhance our group photo.
Alzheimer’s is currently the sixth largest cause of death in America. Six million Americans have ALZ and are supported by 13 million caregivers. Due to demographics, the number afflicted is expected to double over the next 20-25 years. The only solution is for community organizations across the country to contribute to the over $300 million that the Association has pledged to researchers across the world to find prevention, treatment, and a cure.
Camp staff will all be volunteering their time to make sure participants have a great learning experience and lots of fun. Registration is required on the Event Page of the club website, or through this registration email by July 23. Let’s fill some courts for this great cause!
