Basic Strategy – Monday, September 27 – Beginner Playing doubles certainly benefits from some strategy: knowing the shot you want to hit, working as a team, and being patient. The serve and return of serve set the stage, then what? Where should I be on the court? When should I hit hard, or soft, or deep, or short? What about “no man’s land”?
John Wozencraft is an IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) Certified Instructor and USA Pickleball Ambassador.
“I’ve been teaching workshops and private lessons for about three years, and teaching other arts most of my life. My background in tennis, dance, and yoga really help me see how your movements are either supporting or hindering the shots you want. If you don’t feel like you’re in control of your game, some coaching can really help. A great pickleball game comes from consistent shots, both hard ones and soft ones, knowing which one to choose, good teamwork, and a lot of patience! And the longer the point lasts, the more fun it gets.”
