Daniel (DJ) Howard comes from a tennis background, playing four years of college tennis. He began playing pickleball about six years ago and dived in head first! He resigned from his career as a tennis coach a couple of years ago to dedicate himself to becoming the best pickleball player and coach he can be. DJ competes in tournaments across the country and has earned 5 medals at the US Open. He travels the country combining his passion for pickleball and teaching by conducting highly rated lessons and clinics. He strives to be the best coach possible and cares for each individual student equally. His experience as a pickleball player, his knowledge of the game, and his love of teaching are all evident in his lessons and clinics. We are very excited to host DJ for our clinics in 2021!!
Registration is open and is through the BV Recreation website. P2P club members will have one week of priority registration before registration is opened to the general public. Your club membership gives you a $5 discount to ONE class. Sorry, the discount does not apply to private lessons. Tuesday, July 13 - 8:30 - 11:30am - Mastering the Mid-court: All About the Transition Zone - This clinic covers the MOST important area of the court - the transition zone between the baseline and the non-volley zone. Techniques and strategies will be discussed. This session will open your mind to a whole new way of thinking about the mid-court!! For 3.5 skill level players
12:30 - 3:30pm - Beating Bangers: Drives, Drops, and Blocks This clinic covers strategies, tactics, and techniques for handling pace and limiting the options of opponents who like to hit the ball hard. For 3.5 skill level players
4:00 - 6:00pm - Small group lesson by arrangement
Wednesday, July 14 - 8:00 - 11:00am - All About Offense and Defense - This session covers how to set yourself up for winning shots and deny your opponent from winning points. Techniques and tactics will be discussed. For 3.5 skill level players
11:30 - 1:30pm - Dinking: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Dinking - This session covers the many dink options and how and why to hit them. Lots of dinking drills and exercises will be performed. While the main theme is dinking, full court play will also be implemented. For 3.5 skill level players

Thursday, July 15 - 8:30 - 11:30am - Mastering the Midcourt - All About the Transition Zone - This clinics covers the MOST important area of the court - the transition zone between the baseline and the non-volley zone. 12:30 - 3:30pm - Third Shots: Drops, Drives, and Topspin Rolls - This session covers the variety of third shot options and why they can be effective. It also covers how to hit each shot and tips for when each ought to be used. For 4.0/4.5 skill level players
CLINIC FEES: 3 hour clinics - $110
2 hour clinics- $80
Small group lessons:
$65/person/hour for 3 people
$55/person/hour for 4 people
AUDITING - Listen, observe, and take notes but no hands-on participation GREAT for players who are injured or if clinics fill to capacity! An opportunity for players not yet at the 3.5 skill level or the 4.0/4.5 skill level to gain information.
Audit 1 clinic: $20 for a 2-hour clinic, $30 for a 3-hour clinic
Audit a second clinic (3-hour) for an additional $22.50
Audit a third or more clinics for an additional $15 each
