Ladder Leagues
Coming Spring/Summer 2021 - Ladder League
Ladder League play is free to P2P Club Members. Non-members may participate for $12. A Ladder League will last for 4 weeks, with one 3-game round robin or 6-game double round robin each week. The foursome may choose to do a single or double round robin. There will (tentatively) be Ladder League play in May, June, July, and August.
Please contact Marnie Knapp at knapp_m@outlook.com if you would like to be a ladder league captain. Looking for 3 volunteers.
How does a Ladder League Work?
The format of play is designed so that players play mostly with
others of similar skill levels. Ladder Leagues are competitive! Your ranking on a ladder is based upon
your winning percentage (the ratio of points won to total points
possible). Players will move up or down the ladder based upon their
winning percentage. The number of ladders is dependent upon the number of people who are involved. The ladder captain will determine who moves up or down from one ladder to another. Movement between ladders will be based on consistent rankings over some period of time at the top or bottom of a ladder.
Each week, players will be placed in groups of 4 in the order of
their ranking on the ladder for match play. You are expected to play
every week unless you inform the Captain that you will be absent. Players arrange to find a play time, preferably not during regularly scheduled open play. All
players will play three doubles games in a round robin fashion with the
other three players of the foursome. At the start of the game, players
will decide who starts serving first and choice of side. It is
recommended that the players change ends of the court when one side has
at least half the number of points in the game to minimize the effects
of the sun and wind or other factors that may affect play. Games are played to 15, win by 1. OR you may choose to play a double round robin, playing 6 games to 11. Scores are recorded as decimals. Print out and use the score card below. Instructions are included on the score card.
The ladder is designed to be a perpetual ladder with no
particular start or end date. Players can enter or leave the ladder at the end of any month. Optionally, the ladder manager may choose to run the ladder
for a specified number of weeks so that there are clear winners at the
end. After your games have been played, players record their scores on
the score card that is available from the link below Following the games, scores are reported to the ladder Captain by email, text, phone call, or personal interaction.
Scores will be entered into the system and players will be ranked on the ladder. The following week's foursomes will be determined by the updated rankings.
